About Celestron TrailSeeker 10x42 ED Binoculars

The Celestron TrailSeeker 10x42 ED Binoculars (product ID 47032155701555) deliver 10x magnification through 42mm objective lenses. That pairing gives you a 103m field of view at 1000m and an exit pupil of 4.2mm solid for daytime use and capable at dawn or dusk. The 8.2ft close focus makes them equally useful for butterflies and plants as for distant subjects.

The optical system uses Extra-Low Dispersion (ED) glass which virtually eliminates chromatic aberration. All air-to-glass surfaces are fully multi-coated with multiple anti-reflective layers. BaK-4 prisms carry both phase and dielectric coatings to maximise light reflected through the eyepiece. The result is edge-to-edge sharpness with accurate colour and noticeably brighter images than non-ED binoculars.

The body is magnesium alloy with a rubber-coated frame. At 666g it handles well over long sessions. Fully waterproof and nitrogen-filled to prevent internal fogging. Twist-up eyecups with multiple click stops suit both eyeglass wearers and non-wearers. Eye relief is 15mm. Tripod adaptable with a separately sold adapter.

Included accessories are a neck strap, carrying harness and protective soft case. For birders, hunters and outdoor enthusiasts who want performance that punches well above its price point, the TrailSeeker ED is a strong all-round performer.

Technical Details

The 10x42 pairing gives a 4.2mm exit pupil bright enough for daytime and low-light use. ED glass reduces chromatic aberration so colours stay accurate at the edges of the frame. BaK-4 prisms with phase and dielectric coatings reflect more light than standard coatings. Fully multi-coated optics on every air-to-glass surface cut reflection losses further. Together these push light transmission to the highest level possible at this class of binocular.

Materials & Construction

The chassis is magnesium alloy lightweight and stiff. The outer surface carries a rubber coating for grip and impact protection. ED glass objective lenses sit at the front. BaK-4 prisms with phase and dielectric coatings handle the light path internally. All glass surfaces are fully multi-coated.

Care & Cleaning

Brush dust off lenses before wiping with a soft optics cloth. Store in the included soft case when not in use. Keep the body dry and avoid dropping. Check the hinge tension and eyecups regularly. The nitrogen-filled seal depends on the body remaining undamaged so avoid impacts to the chassis.

Frequently Asked Questions

The 10x42 gives more reach for distant subjects like birds of prey or deer but has a narrower field of view than the 8x models. If you follow fast-moving subjects or use them handheld for long periods the 8x42 is easier to hold steady.
The ED glass and fully multi-coated optics with dielectric-coated BaK-4 prisms maximise light transmission making the 10x42 noticeably brighter than non-ED binoculars at the same magnification. The difference is most obvious at dawn and dusk when light levels drop quickly.
Yes, the twist-up eyecups with multiple click stops are designed for comfortable use with or without glasses. The 15mm eye relief is workable for most spectacle wearers though those with strong prescriptions should check this figure against their own requirements.
The 10x magnification and 103m field of view at 1000m make them well suited to birdwatching and the 8.2ft close focus lets you observe birds at very short range. The wide field of view also helps you track moving subjects without losing them.
Yes, the TrailSeeker 10x42 ED is tripod adaptable using a standard photographic tripod adapter which is sold separately. Tripod mounting is particularly useful for extended viewing sessions or digiscoping.
Yes, they are fully waterproof and the body is filled with dry nitrogen gas to prevent internal fogging when moving between temperature extremes. The magnesium alloy chassis with rubber coating adds further protection against knocks and wet conditions.
Use a soft lens cloth or dedicated optics cleaning tissue and brush away loose dust before wiping to avoid scratching the coatings. Never use household cloths or solvents as these can damage the fully multi-coated surfaces.
The TrailSeeker 10x42 ED comes with a neck strap, a carrying harness and a protective soft case for storage and transport. A tripod adapter is not included and must be purchased separately.
